There has been a lot of speculation over what AirPlay can and can’t do, but since the latest iOS 4.2 build was released to developers it’s confirmed, AirPlay will not only stream audio to AirPlay enabled devices, like speakers, but also stream video to Apple TV!
Hopefully Apple will open the video streaming to Apple approved devices so you can stream to an AirPlay enabled TV without having to pick up an Apple TV unit.
This also opens up AirPlay to gaming since you’ll be able to stream audio and video from games to your Apple TV.
All in all we are impressed with Apple’s latest moves opening up AirPlay to more than just audio and we can’t wait for the release of iOS 4.2 with AirPlay coming any day now!
