Marantz NR1602 AV Receiver

Marantz-NR1602-Network-AV-Receiver-2

Marantz has introduced a compact yet highly capable media center with the new NR1602 AV receiver. Measuring just four inches high, the slim NR1602 is about half the height of a traditional receiver, yet offers a full range of features and functionality.

The built-in AirPlay functionality enables you to stream music wirelessly from your iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad or computer running iTunes while an Ethernet port lets you stream music from your home network, or from online music services such as Pandora or my new favorite, Jango.

Four HDMI 1.4a inputs accommodate your TV, game system and Blu-ray player, while a front-facing USB port allows for direct connection of a portable music player, thumb drive, or hard-drive. To make your ripped music files sound their best, the company’s M-DAX onboard audio expansion circuitry restores missing high-frequency information to your compressed audio files to generate what Marantz claims is near-CD sound quality.

As a home theatre system, the NR1602 is 3D ready, and accommodates all the latest sound formats (including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD) to offer 7×1 sound at 50w per channel, suitable for most smaller to mid-sized spaces. You can fine tune speaker settings and sound preferences manually through the high-res onscreen menu, or using the automatic Audyssey calibration system.

Offered in black or the company’s unique “champagne gold” finish, the Marantz NR1602 is available now at $649.99.
